But isn't that typical with a Coben story? I loved this book. Of course, those curveballs at the end were truly out of left field! And the ending still has me pondering. It was a little complicated but I didn't have any issues keeping up. I figured out some of this by the end of the book but not a whole lot. This guy was SERIOUSLY scary.I mean bone-chilling frightening. And, with one exception, I was never sure who the bad guys were. There were several storylines in play that I knew had to be connected but couldn't figure out how. What I can say is I was off balance for most of the book. Since it is a mystery, I can't tell you much more. That sets off a chain of events that reaches back 15 years to the present. The story actually begins with a surprising admission from a prisoner serving a life sentence for murder. It was an ordinary day like any other but from the moment when Grace Lawson picks up her pictures from the photomart, her life was never the same.īut I'm getting ahead of myself. The book remained engrossing throughout the conclusion, with a lot of secret revelations at the end. Cram was a bad guy, who was at times likable too. The villains were evil, especially Eric Wu. I really liked Charlaine, a concerned neighbor, who ended up being quite helpful.

This was a fast-paced, entertaining read, and the cast of characters were interesting. Eventually, she and her children are threatened, and she discovers other people in the photo went missing too. While trying to find out where her husband went, and what the photo means, she starts to search for answers. Later, Jack leaves the house, and Grace hasn’t seen him since. When Grace gets home, she shows the photo to Jack. But on closer inspection, she wonders if one man in the photo is her husband, Jack. It appears to be a photo taken twenty years ago, and she doesn’t know anyone in the photo. While glancing through them, she notices a picture that does not belong. Grace Lawson picks up some family snapshots at the local Photomat.
